Our committee is comprised of volunteers who meet regularly to discuss issues which we feel have a bearing on the quality of life in our unique neighbourhood. As property owners within the 'Mill Street Heritage Conservation District' , along with heritage advocates, we have a passion and respect for the buildings of a bygone era. We feel it is our duty to help preserve and maintain the character of these unique buildings and tree-lined streetscapes for those living in the district, as well as for the enjoyment of passers-by and for future generations.

We are a small oasis surrounded by a 'Modern Waterdown' comprised of over 10,000 new homes and tracts of retail shopping developments. We note with interest that many new home buyers coming to Waterdown choose our part of Hamilton because they 'love the old village' in the heart of Waterdown. So even if you don't live in a home within the Heritage District, chances are you value what we have here - and like us - we hope you agree that it's worth preserving.

Our Mandate:

1. Create an awareness of local heritage       2. Provide advice to help guide changes on architectural, historical, or heritage site       3. Inventory and research heritage buildings / sites        4. Be a community liaison for heritage matters            5.  Assess and advise on issues as they pertain to the Ontario Heritage Act

Our Purpose:

Act as an advisory committee on matters relating to the Ontario Heritage Act - including the preservation and restoration of buildings in the Village of Waterdown that are historically, culturally, or architecturally significant to the Community.
